“Wild is a wonderful word. Wild is raw and compelling. Wild is vivid and primal and complex. It is not only part of my name, it is symbolic of who I am. It describes my life and my experiences and it informs how I work and how I write.” Kim WildmanEver since she had her first short story published at the age of 12 in the Brisbane Sunday Sun – earning herself a paltry $5AUD – Australian-born Kim Wildman dreamed of becoming a professional writer and photographer. More than 20 years on, Kim has not looked back and today works freelance for a variety of magazines, publishers and media outlets around the world. For Kim, being a writer and photographer is much more than ink-slinging or button-pushing. Writing, like painting, is an art form. As a writer your pen is your brush and your words your paint, and with each stroke of the canvas your ideas come to life in glorious splashes of wild colour. A photographer, too, is an artist with a vision. The artistry is not only in careful composition and the play of light; it is in the ability to give your subject a voice and capture their story in a single frame. To excel as a writer and photographer, and to transform raw ideas into works of art, requires more than just a pen or camera. It requires passion, creativity and imagination, and it requires complete command of the most effective styles and methods. In short, it requires Wild Writing and Photography. |
